2017 Miss Windcrest
Act of Kindness: Anijah created “Service from the Heart,” which activities
include: Anijah’s Activity Bags, Valentines Luncheon, Easter gift baskets,
donation of personal hygiene items, non-perishable foods, and gently used
clothing and shoes. These activities are conducted throughout the year to benefit the patients and their families during their stay at the Ronald McDonald House. Anijah enjoys interacting with the patients and also spends time helping to clean and perform various chores throughout the Ronald McDonald House.
Talent/Hobbies: Anijah loves gymnastics, singing, dancing, acting, and conducting science experiments.
Awards/Honors: Received Silver Presidential Volunteer Service Award; 2016 Dreamweek Dream Leader Award; November 2016 1st place NSBE Jr Kid Zone Competition.
When I grow up: Anijah would like to be an Olympic Gymnast and a Scientist.
My Inspiration/Mentor: Anijah’s inspirations are Gabby Douglas, Simone Biles, Mae Jemison and TV shows SciGirls and Project Mc2.
Platform: Hello Beautiful, Yes I'm Talking to You! Self esteem workshop. The self-esteem workshop is all about teaching girls how to be self confident, how to deal with peer pressure, bullying, self harm, and how to be the best person possible.
Talents/Hobbies: Playing the piano and clarinet. I love to read and volunteer, especially with children.
Awards/Honors: A&B Honor Roll, 10% Rank in Class, National Honor Society, 2017 Texas Association of Future Educators Bulletin Board State- Blue Ribbon, 2016 Girl Scout Gold Award, and 2015 Mayor’s United Way volunteer of the Year Youth Award.
Career Goals: Become a teacher, eventually working my way up to the U.S. Department of Education.
My Inspiration/Mentor: My mother- a woman of God, a beautiful mother and wife.
Act of Kindness: Hats Off To Cancer provides patients with handmade hats free of charge.

Act of Kindness: I volunteer my time at the Country Living Adult Care Home and the San Antonio Food Bank.
Talent/Hobbies: I enjoy hip hop dancing, gymnastics, basketball, vocal lesson at the Black Box, singing and dancing on the praise team at True Vine Baptist Church.
Awards/Honors: I received the honesty award, perfect attendance, and honor roll at my school Michael elementary.
When I grow up: I want to be a teacher when I grow up. I want to help others learn.
My Inspiration/Mentor: My inspiration is my family, my mom, my dad, and my grandparents! They are instilling Godly values within me that will allow me to make wise choices in my daily walk.

Act of Kindness: Gabby volunteers her time at special needs camps and on some Sundays as a peer model for children with autism and other special needs.
Talent/Hobbies: Gabby loves to draw and is a natural entertainer.
Awards/Honors: Gabby has been the MLK Dream Leader (2016). She is an honor roll student.
When I grow up: Gabby would like to own a dance studio.
My Inspiration/Mentor: My mom. She helps people everyday.

2017 Miss Leon Valley
Platform: Teens in the Driver Seat. Is the nation’s first peer-to-peer safety program for young drivers, involving teenagers directly in developing and delivering driving safety messages. The goal of Teens in the Driver Seat is to raise awareness of the top driving dangers for teens and prevent crashes involving young drivers.
Talents/Hobbies: Playing the Baritone and Trombone. Playing soccer, going camping and staying fit.
Awards/Honors: A&B Honor Roll, NAACP Youth Achievers Award 2017, Top Teen of America, SA Metro Chapter 2016-2017, Mayors’ Youth Award Nominee, Young Men of Distinction (YMOD), Mr. Teen Fiesta 2016-2017, Mr. Teen San Antonio 2015-2016, Bands Of America 2nd Place Regional Champions 2015.
Career Goals: Become a Veterinarian; open my own practice to assist high school and college students’ work towards their career in this field.
My Inspiration/Mentor: My father and mother who have always been by my side pushing me when life got tough.

Act of Kindness: Glori created The Buddy Program at her middle school. Middle school children "buddy" with a student from the special education program to assist them with daily living skills, learning skills, and social skills.
Talent/Hobbies: Glori plays piano, is an avid reader, loves the arts and loves fellowshipping with her girl scout sisters, NSBE friends, and Top Teen family. She plays basketball, runs track, and sings in her school choir.
Awards/Honors: NAACP Youth Image Award, Straight A Honor Roll, United Way VOYA Honoree, made Regional Choir, earned Silver Award
Career Goals: Glori would like to be a criminal defense attorney.
My Inspiration/Mentor: First Lady Michelle Obama. She has has a great career as a lawyer, is a beautiful woman, exceptional wife, and a mother of two beautiful girls. She was an inspirational first lady.
Act of Kindness: "The San Antonio Food Bank!" Volunteering in the warehouse sorting, packing and inspecting food items, before they are
donated throughout the community.
Talents/Hobbies: My hobbies include hip hop dancing, gymnastics, volleyball, reading and volunteering in my community!
Awards/Honors: I received the Trustworthy award, Rapid Readers, perfect attendance, and the A & B honor roll.
When I grow up: I want to be a teacher, so I can help others learn!
My Inspiration/Mentor: My family because they instill Godly values within me, allowing me to be a better person.

Act of Kindness: "Sharing is Caring", involves donating her "gently used clothing and toys to Goodwill Industries and the Children's Shelter.
Talent/Hobbies: Holly enjoys designing clothes for her dolls and Girl Scouting.
Awards/Honors: Holly has received a certificate of appreciation from United Way for her participation in their "Shoe Box Project.
When I grow up: I want to be a veterinarian.
My Inspiration/Mentor: Holly is nurtured and inspired by her mentor, Hannah Leake, who nurtures, guides, inspires and motivates her to achieve success.

Act of Kindness: I volunteer my time at Methodist children hospital in the San Antonio medical center.
Talent/Hobbies: I enjoy cheerleading, dancing, and reading.
Awards/Honors: Wolverine Homecoming Queen, A-B Honor roll at Leon Valley Elementary, Wolverine Spirit award and Volunteer award.

2017 Miss Schertz
Act of Kindness: Kindness to Animals through her work at The Animal Defense League in San Antonio as a Pet Champion.
Talent/Hobbies: Gabrielle enjoys musical theatre and is an avid performer in dancing (ballet, tap, jazz), singing and acting. She also enjoys competitive speaking events and recently signed with Condra Artista Talent Agency.
Awards/Honors: Gabrielle is a 2016 Recipient of the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for completing over 75 hours of community service in a year. She also was a 2016 DreamWeek Dream Leader Award Recipient.
When I grow up: Gabrielle would like be a veterinarian and help animals in need.
My Inspiration/Mentor: Gabrielle’s Nana (who recently passed) is her inspiration. Nana was very talented in many areas and always was there for her family and loved them all very much. She wants to continue Nana’s legacy of spreading love to everyone.
